.History: The Commodore (VL) was a mid-size automobile produced from 1986 to 1988. It was the final version of the first-generation Commodore, including the luxury model Calais (VL).Between February 1986 and August 1988, 151,801 VL Commodores were built. The engine inside was an imported 3.0-liter RB30 inline-six designed and built by Nissan of Japan.
.Design: A 150 kW (201 hp) turbocharged RB version of the engine was released. The Garrett turbine packs were mounted in water-cooled housings for longevity. The engine featured new pistons that lowered the compression ratio, while a newer camshaft was used to reduce overlap. The Commodore's appeal quickly became apparent, especially at a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph), which could reach 220 km/h (137 mph) with the addition of the Garrett turbocharger. The turbo models were fitted with larger brakes and Girlock finned alloy front calipers. The Australian police commissioned the Turbo as their choice of "intercept" highway tracker.
.Models: The VL range was launched with the Commodore SL, Executive and Berlina models, and also included the luxurious Calais model. However, this was called the "Holden Calais" rather than the "Holden Commodore Calais".
.It also gave rise to SS A motorsport: SS A won twice in the first World Touring Car Championship in 1987. Allan Moffat and John Harvey won the first race of the championship in Monza, Italy, in a Legrand-sponsored VL Commodore.
.Designed and Authorized by Ronald Tewes, the product is designed based on a real engine. It has a battery box, a large L motor and a medium M motor. The single overhead camshaft unit and turbocharged model unit, as well as the classic fan and atomizer design are reproduced.
